THIS YEAR IS GOING TO BE A LITTLE DIFFERENT. WE ARE GOING VIRTUAL!

How Do I Sign Up?

It’s EASY! Create your own fundraising page by clicking on the link here. It’s quick and simple, and all donations are secure. Then, email away to all of your friends, family, and colleagues.

Memphians have a longstanding and beloved tradition of plunging into frigid waters every February to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Greater Memphis. With safety of the athletes and plunge participants being our priority, we will not be gathering to plunge together in 2021, but there is good news: the 2021 Bluff City Fire & Ice Polar Bear Plunge is still going to take place…just not in the way to which we are accustomed.

You can take the virtual plunge whenever and however you like! Creativity is key. Whether you are dipping into an ice-cold bath or adding a bucket of ice water to your favorite TikTok dance, the opportunities are endless!

Participants will get a Plunge t-shirt and other incentives based on the amount of donations raised. All incentives will be delivered to the address listed when registering.

Make sure to take a photo or video and share your virtual plunge on social media to show how you are supporting Special Olympics Greater Memphis. We cannot wait to see what you come up with (and do not forget to tag us)!!!

Here are some virtual plunge ideas:

  • Add a bucket of ice water to your favorite TikTok dance
  • Take the Plunge into a bathtub full of ice water
  • Take a kiddie pool plunge filled with cold water
  • Run through a freezing garden hose/sprinkler
  • Slip n’ Slide through your yard
  • Have a winter water balloon/super soaker fight
  • Dump an iced beverage on your head
  • Challenge your work, school, or youth group to take the plunge together in crazy fun way!

Use your imagination and BE SAFE! PLEASE BE RESPONSIBLE WITH YOUR VIRTUAL PLUNGE!

The in-person Polar Plunge is safe because we have a professional dive team in the water and emergency responders on site. Do not do anything that could physically harm yourself or others. Special Olympics Greater Memphis is not responsible for any injuries that occur while participating in the Virtual Plunge.

Since we are going virtual for this year’s Plunge, we strongly encourage you to utilize our online donation portal. If you prefer to gather donations in the form of cash or check, you can mail the forms below to our office. We will use the email address listed on the registration form to send a confirmation that we have received your donations.
